...Years before his native land dropped the hammer and sickle, Russian General Slava Borisov picket up the cross. It happened in 1994 after General Borisov - then an atheist and deputy chief commander of the Soviet invasion force in Afghanistan - survived a helicopter crush that killed the 11 other soldiers on board.
...General Borisov said he was heavily criticized after his conversion to Christianity. But he said he senses a change within the military and estimates that about 15 percent of the 2.5 million Russian soldiers are devout Christians.

Borisov who now lives in Moscow, was the only survivor of that helicopter crush. Hospitalized for six months, he was given little chance of recovery... God, however, blessed him with a miracle.
